where did that week go?

well it's a week later... how did that happen?? dh was off last week and I'd like to say we were busy doing stuff... but we weren't really... I have been busy doing web stuff... really learning a lot!! It's hard doing it in bits and spurts though with the kidlets needing me too. ah it's good to be the mommy!

OH and my flowers... I'm such a gardener wanna-be!! I planted morning glories this year and finally they are blooming. Apparently they don't like blooming in the heat, so they have just started! S ooo pretty and my sunflowers are going now too. The tallest one is at least 9 feet high!! I love the colours... here are a couple of shots I took this morning.

And one last one of the kids. They were wrestling in a way I suppose... yet giggling their faces off. I am so blessed to have these two amazing kids!! Bree is such a great big sister, and Ian just adores her!! Happy Monday all!

we did it again!! :) and some photos

Thank you all so very much, we made it into round 4 of the scraps ahoy idol contest! I'm happier than a pig in muck!! Too too cool! The next round is going to be pretty hard... I have to do a layout on my changing hairstyle over the years! LMBO and write an essay on the "culture" of scrapbooking... will have to pull out some super creativity for that one!!

I also had fun with some new friends in the neighbourhood. They wanted some new family photos and I was only too happy to oblige!! Here are a couple of my favourites(with their permission of course)

one more

thank you all so much for the great feedback about my digi stuff!!! One of the reasons I like it so much is because I can do it one handed. Ian has entered the lovely must-cling-to-mommy phase... so I've learned how to adapt to one handed 'putering!
Here is one I made this morning with another of Tia's awesome kits called "seventies". It's a freebee at 2p's
I smargdifyed(action) the photo, then layered an origial back on, reduced the opacity to give it a bit of a hand tinted look...

Christy for sure we can do a banner up for your blog!! just let me know!

2fer Tuesday... er um also Friday?!

Was checking out Jessica Sprauge's blog, and she's issued a challenge to use 2 of the same kits for 2 different layouts(check out her blog for more details). What a great idea! So I used Tia Bennett's dude.totally kit for both of these lo's I just loved the colours and the fun feel to it. Perfect for boy layouts(which I seem to be doing a lot of lately!) if you click on them, they'll pop up larger in a new window!
Thanks so much for the challenge Jessica!

doing it, in the garage!

taking photos that is!! :) I remember reading about Garage photo shoots years ago on 2p's and always thought cool, but at the time my camera was a point & shoot and I just never bothered trying. Well it occured to me, duh patti you have a good camera now and it's warm, try it! So I meandered down to the fabricland this morning and bought a couple of meters of black fabric(btw there are some GORGEOUS fabrics in there, all I coudl think about was patterned paper!!! I so wish I could sew!), and set it up out in the garage. I had fun, I wish my kids would have cooperated better. Brianna was most unimpressed, because I took her away from fun playing stuff in the basement... blah, we need photos girl!! :) The boy did incredibly well despite his repeated attempts to escape and one minor clunk in the head with a dangling camera as I tried to retrieve him(oops, guess I lost mom of the year award there huh???)
But I am VERY pleased with the results and can't wait to get these pics printed so I can scrap them with this months new gorgeous scraptivity kit!!!
Anyway here are some of my favourites! I snapped over 150 frames per kid... I'm going to need another memory card me thinks! :)

ok so I promised Christopher after Ian's first birthday I would get his hair cut. I loved, loved LOVED the curls, but it was getting out of hand!! Soooo yesterday we happened to be near a first choice haircutter's place and so in we went! He sat on my lap and did really well, and the lady who was doing it was super patient as he was pretty wiggly and wondering what was going on! I was so impressed with them too. She gave me an envelope with some of the curls in it(yep I see a scrapbook page coming fo rsure!) and a certificate, and it was free!! Brilliant marketing plan! They are hoping to make a customer for life, and they very well may have!!

I can't get over how different and older he looks.
Amazing that something as simple as a haircut can change someone sooo drastically!
Anyway, here are the pics of my *sniff sniff* big boy!

Voting time again...

ok my lovely and talented bloggerville friends, it is time again that I come humbly before you and grovel at your feet to scoot over to Scraps Ahoy http://www.scrapsahoy.com/content/round_3/round_3.html
and vote for wittle ol me. Ok so there isn't much that is "wittle" about me... I still would love it if you would vote for me. I am not as happy with my layouts for this round unfortunately. I had some major mojo issues and couldn't get the idea out the way I wanted it to look and so in the wee hours of the morning I decided to just let it be.

For those who had trouble last time, you will need to register first with Scraps Ahoy, then after that, on the right hand side is where the voting area is. Also if I may draw yoru attention to the area below where they are having a 2nd chance for those who were outed earlier in teh competition, our gal pal Kimmie C is on that list, can you show her some love too please!? :)

I know this is just a small beans contest but I am really having fun with it, it's a wave of excitment that I'm loving the ride on... and hope to ride it out as long as possible.
That would just be SO cool!
THank you thank you thank you!

GO SHORTY...IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY...WE GONNA PARTY LIKE IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY...

Ok the day has arrived, and to the minute(not planned) 8:38am this time last year my boy was born!!! I'm getting a little misty eyed just thinking about it!!

I am sad that he's getting bigger, but so amazed at how much he's growing and changing and learning. I'm happier then I thought I was going to be...
He's a good kid, albeit a crappy sleeper(but improving).

We're going to have a small party tonight with grandma & grandpa, maybe my brother and his girls if they can make it. We got some impressive birthday packages in the mail last week from Granny in Australia. Ian is in LOVE with these cute little Ikea cars(didn't even know they had Ikeas in oz) and the most adorable "petrol" station! it's even made out of wood... not many toys are these days! It's so cute, it has a little roo in the middle... definitely a keepsake. Too bad it cost $64 to post! (although she added some treats in it for us... yum!)

So I'm feeling a bit reflective today, but a lot more peaceful than I thought I was going to be.

Happy birthday my little boy! It's been a great first year, can't wait for many many more!

We made it to the next round for scraps ahoy idol, and I owe it all to you guys! Thanks so so sooooo very much for your help with voting! I am so very appreciative to my friends support!!
I can not tell you how much fun and anxiety (but a good kind) I am having with this!!! It's pretty exciting too! I have to do 2 layouts for next Saturday, one using only products that are 5 years or older(yikes! I dug through the old stuff and found 4 UGLY pieces of paper... but I have no embellishments... I am going to have to get creative!), and the other one is on values... should be fun guess what I'm going to be busy doing!!

Thanks again so very much for the votes my friends!!

A tear & a smile

Just read this on a board I visit and I loved it so much I wanted to share it here.

Dinner and a MovieAfter 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, "I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you."The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my mother, who had been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my 3 children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. "What's wrong, are you well?" She asked. My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or surprise invitation is a sign of bad news."I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you," I responded. Just the two of us."She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an Angel's. "I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed," she said, as she got into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our meeting."We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy.My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me.A nostalgic sm ile was on her lips. "It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said. " Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation-- nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed."How was your dinner date?" Asked my wife when I got home."Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place where mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless I paid for two plates -- one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me."I love you, son."At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I love you," and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve.Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time."
