I hope everyone was able to feel the love yesterday!! I feel entirely blessed with my three gorgeous valentines. The kids were adorable and my hubby wonderful as always!

I also was invited to attend a momstown Valentine's day party, where I held a mini portrait party as well! It was so frantic and fun at the same time! I have to say what a gorgeous group of children I had the honour of photographing! Here are a quick sampling of some of the lovely little ones that came out yesterday!

so sorry about that!! We had some very important houseguests come to visit for the past couple of weeks, Brianna & Ian's Grandparents! They came over for the first time to meet our kids and we all had such a great visit. They live in Brisbane Australia, which is let's say pretty warm all year long, and they came to Canada, to visit us in January! They really wanted to see the snow... which it barely did for them, and of course today it is a full on blizzard, and they're probably already in LA or on the plane back down under.
We are so blessed to have these wonderful people in our lives, and I hope that we can get to see them next, and hopefully sooner rather than later.
Here are some of my favourite photos from the trip!

They brought Ian a mini cricket bat & ball and pegs to be used in the summer, but they got some good cricket-ing (is that even a word?) in while they were here! Ian loves it! But hekeeps wanting to play hockey with it lol.... that's m'boy!!

We took them to the Great Wolf Lodge and had soooo much fun!!

Grandpa celebrated the big 6-0 while he was here and we had to go to Montana's and had scrumptious ribs... yum!
Grandpa got his first snowball in the head and other places, courtesy of his loving son! lol... The kids had a blast outside with him. Grandma and I decided to stay inside where we were safe from snowballs!! lol

What a wonderful visit, we miss you guys already!

Ok so I'm a few days late, but I still want to say it, Happy New Year!!

New Year's are a great time to get organized and get excited about the days and months ahead! The excitement of the holidays are past and now the regular routines can return. I quite love January actually. I love the return to routine and the time to get organized.
I am also happy to congratulate all sorts of couples who have signed with me to photograph their wedding, it's now 2008... it doesn't seem so far away anymore! I am happy for the couples who have contacted me in the past week who have just become engaged too! Very big congratulations! I can't wait for the big day! I love weddings, the magic, anticipation and beauty of two lives coming together. Just amazing.

I have joined a group who is challenging themselves to take a photo each day this year!! I have agreed and will try my best to follow through. The project is starting out with the A,B,C's and I'll post the letters I have done so far. I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to continue this all year, but I'm going to try and I will probably post sporadically my favourites or clumps at a time.

an early Christmas gift...

by the name of Konrad. I can not imagine anything sweeter than a newborn for the holidays. This gentle little soul was a beautiful reflection of his amazing, fun and beautiful parents. He was 2 weeks old yesterday which is the ideal time for newborn photography as the little ones will do the curl so nicely...

I have to admit I am a sucker for a close up of baby eyes...

I have lots more photos to go through, but wanted to get your sneak peak up before the New Year!

And on a personal note, I want to stop and thank all of my amazing clients for the most incredible year in 2007!! And I must also thank my charming and encouraging husband and sweet children for all of their support during my staying-up-way-too late nights and hectic schedules. None of this could be possible without the support of my beautiful family.
Through growing pains and monumentous occasions this year has been such a dream come true! I have learned so much and feel like an entirely different person from where I was at this time last year. I can't say enough how much I love what I do and how blessed I feel every day waking up knowing that I have my 'dream' job.

This has only been possible with the beautiful families and couples that call and email me to help them create timeless memories through my photography. So thank you!! I pray that you and your families have a great New Year's celebration tonight and that 2008 be an amazing year for us all!

Engaged Brandon & Rachel!

As much fun as it is to photograph outdoors in "nice" weather, I have to say there is something extra special about going out in the winter and bundling up, wearing nice sweaters and jackets and capturing some really cool connections with a couple in love! Brandon & Rachel are two great examples of this. They were up for anything, and I had so much fun with you two! Ok so I'm a day late, but I still genuinely mean it! What a wonderful holiday I enjoyed this year with my family. I have so much to be thankful for and I feel truly blessed to have such a loving family. The kids were entirely too cute. I could have sat and watched them unwrapping presents all morning, it is SO much fun now that they are really into it! I have taken a couple of days off, but am planning on getting back at it tomorrow for all who have sessions pending, they're coming!! I promise!

In the mean time here is a little sneak peak for the ocean loving family that I photographed just before Christmas. I have lots more, but ... it wouldn't be a sneak preview if I showed them all :)

I had a great time Thursday meeting little H and his parents and his Auntie and Uncle from across the pond! What a great looking Aunt & Uncle! I love the sign up above! I think this house gets lots of laughter! I love it!

is what dad was saying to his little guy to get him to giggle... and it worked!! Everytime I see a baby, I think that I have seen the cutest one ever, and this case is no different! It took a minute to warm little D up to me, but once mum & dad had him going look out!! Here are some of my favourites from their session.

OH and new moms & dads look out for an exciting new product I'm going to be offering in the new year. I won't reveal it yet, but it's beautiful and it's coming!!! :)

I have to admit, living in Canada has it's blessings and it's challenges. The weather being one of the challenges. Although we get some amazing spring, summer & fall weather, the winter... well I could do without the cold. Although I made these 4 gorgeous kids romp around Hess Village for an hour yesterday morning in sub zero temperatures!!! I was bundled up like frosty the snow wo-man and they were all freeeeeeeeeeeezing!! But we had SO much fun and I hope we can try again some time when it's a touch warmer!! here you you go C, I hope you love them!!

St. Lucia, the wedding part one

I can't even begin to express how happy I am to be posting these photos of my most beautiful and dearest friend in the world. I have known her quite literally from birth and we've been friends ever since. She is amazing in every sense of the word from the amazing occupation that she chose, to the huge generous heart that she has to the wonderful husband she now has. I can't say enough wonderful things about her. And the beauty that you see on the outside, is only outshined by that which she holds within. J, you got the most amazing lady in my friend, and I can't say enough how thrilled I am for you both.

seriously, I have had a great run of cute, and I mean seriously cute kids this week. All dolled up for Christmas and I could just squeeze them!

Ok I admit it, I did squeeze them, every one! lol I couldn't help it! Too cute!!

Santa Baby

Really I think there is little cuter than a nakey baby in a santa hat!! This little one is no exception! She just turned one a few weeks ago, and is even more adorable, if that is even possible from when I first photographed her when she was born. Here she is now as cute as a button!!

I also wanted to extend a last minute christmas deal, for all those last minute shoppers out there.

St Lucia wrapped up!

I had the greatest honour to travel down to St. Lucia 2 weeks ago to witness my oldest and dearest friend say her "I do's", and the best/strangest part, we left the kidlets at home, well with the grandparents, I don't think they would have fared well on their own! :)

St. Lucia is truly an island paradise!! Lots of fun places to explore and photo opportunities galore!! I unfortunately havn't had a chance to fully go through the close to 1800 photos I took as it is the busy Christmas season and my wonderful clients need their photos! but as time allows I will be uploading favourite photos.

For now here are some of my favourite photos from the sunset cruise Chris & I enjoyed on our last evening in St. Lucia. The boat is called the "Brig Unicorn", but you may know it better as "the Black Pearl". Yep it is one and the same as the pirate ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies!! It was SO SO SO cool to be on it and experience sailing on it will all the sails fully opened. Also equally as fascinating was watching the crew cruise up the rigging and walk along the beams like it was nothing! Most of the guys on the ship also starred in the movies! Now I'm going to have to rent them again!

Never in a zillion years would I have thought I'd buy studio lights!! ack but I have and they're not so bad lol. I have the honour of photographing a Glamour Gala at Exclusively Women's Fitness Centre tonight, and needed to grab some lights! I can't wait to see everyone all dressed up, it's going to be so much fun! If you're in the area definitely drop by for a great evening(and stop by, I'll even take your photo! ;)

Despite a typical windy, dreary and cold fall day, let me assure you there was nothing typical, dreary or cold about their wedding celebration!
The wedding was held at Geraldo's at Lasalle Park in Burlington. I could go on and on about how professional and courteous the staff were but I will leave it at I have found my new favourite place to photograph!!

posting palooza part three!! Had so much fun with this beautiful family on the weekend!! I really love when the parents find such gorgeous clothes for their little ones for our photo session, so when I saw this precious 2 year old in this vintage looking coat and hat I couldn't wait to get started. I swear I could see this in an old movie somewhere.

Sweet Pea murals are in 'da house! Actually sweet pea murals are in lots of homes!! And I had the honour to run around with the amazingly talented artist Sarah to photograph some of the incredible pieces of art that she has created. I am in complete awe! Sarah created 2 canvas' for my own children earlier this summer, which I need to photograph as well, but they are both sleeping right now, so I will try again in the morning!

it's that time of year again

Fall is one of my favourite seasons, and one of my favourite fall pastimes is visiting the local farms and letting the kids run amuck! Well with one kid in school now full time, I only had Ian to run amuck, but he certainly fulfilled his obligation and that of his sister's in her absence. We went to Springridge Farms and Ian and my friends kids had a great time. I actually got a shot of Ian in almost the exact same position as he was this time last year... was amazed with the difference... taller and less hair!

ok so I'm a week late with posting our labour day photos, but it's been a bit hectic with school starting, our little princess is in grade one! *gulp* and a handful of shoots with so many fun families and I got my wisdom teeth yanked on Friday! I will spare you the photo of my chipmunk face! lol!! BUT what I wanted to share was our trip to Zooz for labour day weekend! We got season tickets this year, and we went a bunch of times. THis time was by far the best though because the weather wasn't so humid the animals were all out and about doing their thing! We had our good friends Jamie & Heather join us too so that was nice for our kids to go tearing through the park together at high velocity! Here are some of my favourite pics!

Lee-Ann & Dan's wedding was so much fun to photograph! One of the reasons being that they were definitely up for anything and because they were getting married at the Hess Village Wedding Chapel in Hamilton, we had the ultimate urban backdrops for their photos! They couldn't have picked a better spot! Lee-Ann & Dan decided to see each other before the wedding so we had lots of time to get heaps of great photos! We had fun and it was the ultimate lead up to their exchanging of vows.

July 28, 2007 What a hot, hot July day!! Not a cloud in the sky and both the bride and groom were gorgeous!! Had a great ceremony that was beautiful and exciting which was held at the Royal Botanical Gardens here in Burlington. The RBG know how to do it right for weddings, with a gigantic and lovely tent over the entire wedding area. I was very impressed. They also had a gorgeous fountain. I will be the first to admit, I'm not much for fountain photos, but if I can get someone to go in, I'm all over it!
Thanks so much to Jamie & Sam for being so open to my wacky ideas! I loved photographing your big day and I hope nothing but happiness as you begin your lives together.

Oh how I have been a bad blogger! Summer is well and truly underway and in fact nearly half way done! I can't believe school is going to start back up again in a month, and that my little girl is going to be in grade one, EVERYDAY! eek! Ian will miss her desperately!

I have been super crazy busy photographing weddings and babies, and belly's and it's just so exciting! I can't tell you how much I adore being apart of these incredible moments in people's lives. Life is so precious, new lives are so fragile.

So important to remember when a trivial, albeit serious blow out occurs with your computer! Had a nasty virus on my computer last week and I had to have my hard drive completely reformatted! Thank goodness I back up all my photos the moment I dump the cards! However, I lost valuable emails and my calendar schedule. OH my GOODNESS! how could I have so much fun and learn so much all in one day? Nate and Susan are brilliant photographers and fantastic instructors. And I now have a new phrase "oh ya that's hawt!" LMBO! Great techniques learned, very cool fellow attendees, I wish I wasn't so far away!~ I also got to meet and hang out with another online photog friend (g'day Malin!), who took me for the super duper Atlanta tour and to a local yummmmy noodle house! We chatted and laughed and ate and drank until the restaurant closed! Too fun!

This little girl was such a princess!! Oh my goodness too cute for words with eyes that could match swimming pools for depths of beautiful blue! Wonderful loving family, which I am constantly amazed with! I have a relatively small family and I think one of the neatest things about this job is getting to kind of join in on the best and most special of events with families. So great to see how other people celebrate life and family!

I don't post photos of my hubby that often, but I just wanted to today. I got this fun shot of him yesterday and love that it has truly captured the essence of the gday bloke!! He encouraged me and supported me though all the ups and downs and has been my best cheering section with starting the business. So much so that when I mentioned there was a workshop coming up in 2 weeks in Atlanta with my favourite photographers in the whole world Nate Kaiser of the image is found and Susan Stripling and that I really really really wanted to go. He didn't even bat an eyelash. I am so excited. These two photographers are top wedding and portrait photogs in the US right now and I'm going to be spending a day with them! Absorbing like a sponge everything I can! This is really great news for all the wedding couples I have booked for this summer! I can not tell you how excited I am!

I always feel sort of guilty for having so much fun while working. Every time I go out I remind myself how blessed I am to be able to do this.

Could it be the sun? I think spring has sprung!!! And not a moment too soon, I had a sad shopping experience today apparently things are fitting a little tighter!! ack!! I am going to blame winter, and not the Cadbury Easter eggs ... lol

hmmm good thing I'm hankering for a salad! I think there are going to be a lot of them in my future!!

Had fun taking the boy to the park today, so nice to have sunshine and blue skies again!! And they say 22C this weekend!! yippppeee!!

ohhhh it has been a couple of weeks already!! I didn't mean for it to go so long inbetween posts! Life has gone and gotten a little busy, and you know, I love it!! each and every minutes!!

at the miller house, bed jumping is definitely in order!!
Too cold to go outside, played with all of the toys 5 gazillion times... only one thing left to do, jump on mum & dad's bed!! This photo had me in hysterics!!! I'm a little horrified that Ian has his soother in his mouth. I only let him have it at bed time, and then it stays in his bed! But while we were upstairs he ran into his room and grabbed it and his blankie... sneaky little squirt! that things days are numbered!!!
So afterwards, of course Bree wanted to see, and then she wanted to try taking some photos of me too... now my camera is not light, with the battery pack and lens on it, it is a heavy piece of work!! but she managed to get some fun shots see below!

So much for the kindness thoughts and prayers for the family who lost their little girl. I never cease to be amazed at how the internet can make a gigantic world, a little bit smaller and people closer.

Many of the photographers on the forum from where I know the mum, we all released 3 pink balloons over the weekend as Ava's funeral was being held in Australia. We had I think 7 countries participating, from South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the UK, Canada & US!

Brianna and I went out to the playground near our house and released them

Unfortunately as soon as they left Brianna's hand the wind swept them into the trees. Brianna was very sad that Ava wasn't going to be able to catch them from heaven(oh how I love this child!). Daddy even volunteered to go and get the ladder and dislodge them, but I was afraid they were too high.

I checked on them this morning and they were gone... I think Ava caught them after all!

This lovely friend on the Goldcoast in Australia lost her beautiful daughter in a tragic accident on the weekend. Her little girl became locked in the family's car out in the hot summer sun, while they frantically were looking everywhere for her, but it was too late. Temperatures inside a closed up car in the sun can be measured at upwards of 55C(131F). *heavy sigh* I heard through another friend that she wanted people to ensure that their little ones know how to honk the horn in the car if they were ever to get stuck in there. I know mine don't know! Ian's too young, but I'm going to show Brianna tonight!!! Please if you have a little one, or family with little ones, in memory of this beautiful little girl, please make sure they know how to honk the horn in the car, if they were ever to get stuck.

My heart hurts for them.

wow this month flew by hey?? or is it just me? I am thrilled to be out of January... it's so cold!
January has been an interesting month, here is a wrap up...
My best friend called and told me she was engaged!! eeeek!! *SO* excited for her!! And asked if I woudl be her matron of honour?! :) What an honour indeed! They're not sure yet where it's going to be, but somewhere hot and on a beach!! *insert very happy Patti here* Only thing is, I'm not going to be able to photograph it as I'm going to be in it!!! I have always wanted to photograph a beach wedding! So I'm going to ask if they will dress up again for me during the week and get some nice aftershots.
I also completed my business plan and according to my business coach it's in the top 10% of ones shes read! So that is incredibly good news!
I've heard from a couple of friends who are newly expecting, but they're still in the early stages and are keeping it quiet for now. But I am SOO thrilled for them! Praying and hoping for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery momma's!!! You know who you are! ;)
Got to meet some really neat people and experience some new customs!

Can I share some funny pics of the boy?? He just makes me giggle so much! He was helping(and I use that term loosely) Chris & bree make pudding tonight and was just a sticky butterscotch mess... adn so I turned on the tap to start cleaning him off, well doesn't he spray water everywhere... and then I figure why not toss him right in?! Well wasn't he pleased with himself!! LMBO Happy as can be! I just can't believe the way he was sitting, with his knees bent and feet outwards, that can't be comfortable!

As I sit here gazing out my window at the snow falling, I can't help but think ahead to the summer! Longing for warmth, sandals flowers and a possible trip out to the lovely British Columbia! I have a handful of friends who have asked if ever I was out that way, they'd like for me to do their family photos... now have five... hoping if I was able to get ten families booked, I might actually be able to get out there and cover my costs. Thinking of going the last week of August, or early September, what ever woudl work best for people. Not sure that early September would work so well with Labour day and kids returning to school. I'm also hoping to go over to the Island and have a couple of families to do there as well. SO I'm officially putting out a feeler for those on the west coast, if anyone is interested or knows of anyone who may be interested in family photos, hook me up!! Of course I'm all for mixing business with pleasure and would LOVE to meet some of the friends I have been chatting with over the years! So here is to hoping it all works out!!
And for those who are also gazing out their windows at the soft fluffy snow falling... just remember, summer is coming!

Loosing Wisdom

Apparently it's time to get 2 of my wisdom teeth yanked... Not looking forward to that, but I'm sure I'll survive. Chris is getting all 4 out in a few weeks, so I guess I'll have something to gauge mine by!!

Let's see what else is new, snow, apparently it is winter in Southern Ontario, I thought we were going to escape without any... Not so fortunate! But Brianna has been having heaps of fun being out there. Does my heart good to see her playing in it. We actually went out together on the weekend after I nearly fried my computer *another story I shan't bore y'all with). So I took my big brother's wise advice and put it aside and played in the snow. We built a snowman, err excuse me a "snow dad".(Bree's class is talking about snow families right now, she was eager to build a snow mom, snow girl, snow boy, snow dog and snow cat as well, but I told her my back and the snow available could only do one, so a snow dad it was!)

And here he is in all his glory! Our pickin's for facial decorations were pretty slim out in the backyard, so he got some rocks for eyes and a mouth and a pinecone for a nose... and a red bucket for a hat! (was wondering were my floor washing bucket had disappeared to!)

Oh and the boy is talking... can you guess what he's telling me in this photo?

woohoo it is Friday! I am thrilled to bits! why?? it's one day closer to Saturday! lol. Saturday is my one precious day of the week that I get to sleep in. Honestly and truly it is a most reverent occasion! I have a maternity shoot booked for tomorrow, that's always fun! I got some new fabric for wraps, so I can't wait to try it out!

Friday is also usually my night off of cooking, I'm thinking of ordering in chinese/thai for supper! yummy!

I had the most amazing Saturday night

I had the coolest job last night!!! I was invited to come and photograph one of Chris' workmate's grandsons Anna Prasanam. It's a hindu celebration of the baby eating his/her first solid food! An uncle feeds the baby it's first rice cereal then all the grandparents get to as well A small ceremony and a big party to celebrate. I know next to nothing about hindu culture and celebrations, but got a chance to learn so much last night. I had THE best time! The family invited me in and welcomed me as part of their group even though I was there to work, they made sure I got fed(yummmy true indian food is fabulous!!!) and got to know the family a bit. Played with the kids and had a great time! I almost wasn't going to take the job because it was at night and that isn't really good for a natural light photographer!!! But Prahba(grandma) coaxed me into it and I'm so glad!! It didn't hurt that they're all gorgeous!!! Here is a little sneak peak, will be posting the entire slideshow to my website in the next couple of days if you're interested in seeing more! Here is the big moment, the first spoonful of food!

Ok so I'm 4 days late! But it has a been a great start to 2007! My house is finally healthy! It's organized and ready for th enew year! I'd like to draw your attention to the state of our Christmas tree.... half decorated from the middle up, behind a gate with Bree's keyboard!!! lol and he's still managed to pull it over twice!! LOVE the toddler phase! love it!

Well the girl is sick today, and spiked a fever around 4 am... I couldn't get back to sleep because she said her neck hurt too(dh had meningitis just before we were married, so I'm a wee bit freaked out at fever & sore necks combined). Anyway, I was having a most grumbly day, and decided I was missing taking pic's so Ian became my loyal subject!! It's funny because I kept calling his name to get him to look at me, as he's busy playing, c'mon mom leave me alone... and so he started saying Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I think you can see the "no" lips in one of the photos. Hmmm I wonder where he learned that word??? Holy cow he is into EVERYTHING!!

Hope everyone is ready for Christmas, apparently it is near... I need to hit the grocery store, but that's it. I may try the 24 hour one later tonight... we'll see!!

So it's less than a week before Christmas, and I have lost my fa la la la... So strange, I'm feeling pretty blah. I have the tree, the lights, some decorations that Ian hasn't destroyed... It's so strange being a work at home mom. For years working in Long term care, there was such a huge emphasis on Christmas and decorating and all that good stuff. I organized heaps of parties and attended them too! It was fun, I loved it!! And in a small strange way I miss it. I miss having co-workers to giggle, chat and solve all the worlds problems.
It's all good and I'll be fine, it's just another bump in the road called life. I miss my friends who are all very busy with their holiday preparation. My beloved life long friend Gayle has been away in Cornwall for the past 6 weeks re-training to go and work in the tower at Pearson airport in Toronto. She has been an Air traffic controller on radar for the past 6 years, but was tired of working underground. I'm so proud of her for going for her dream and working to get to the spot where she'll be happier. She's been studying like a fiend as they have to score I think a 95%(really would we want an ATC who only got 50%?nope!). She called me on Friday to tell me that she passed! wooohoo! I hope I can see her over the holidays.

I think it's common to especially miss friends and loved ones over the holidays. My hugs and prayers go out to all who are missing special loved ones this time of the year.

And just to end on a happy note, I'm going to share a silly moment with Gayle ... on the way to the church when I was getting married, we went through the McDonalds drive through!!! we were STARVING, and I thought I was going to be sick... so of course logically McDonalds solves all your problems! Shockingly enough it did!! And the drive through lady called over all the Mickyd employees to have a look at us all dressed up! lol.

My classes finished the end of November, now I'm just working on my business plan... what a document that is!!! Doing photos for folks on the weekend and LOVING it!!! And of course still busy working on our first client's website! I can't wait for the big reveal. It shouldn't be long now!

Needless to say, sleep has been little, coffee has been large... wait there is nothing new there! lol.

I just realized that I hadn't sent out any christmas cards yet. I usually ahve them out the first of December!!! So I desperately tried to get a photo of the kids together... I had to provide food... so yep Ian's munching on an apple but hey it's done! Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Finally got some time today to sit down and read my camera manual(and the digital field guide for the d200 too!) and I have learned so much!! I have to admit, I'm not usually one to read directions, or measure ingredients either for that matter... but I sucked it up, and read and have hours more to do. THankfully this is fun reading. Oh and I finally tried shooting in RAW format!! fun fun, not nearly as 'scary' as I once thought(it's like shooting a digital neg of a photo, much larger size and fully editable without ruining the quality of the photo). For example this photo I took today, around 4:00pm. It was dark & gloomy, and her skin tones resembled something of a morning-oatmeal-now-turned-into-cement colour. But I'm pleased with the transfer. Bree looks quite pale, but then again, she is!! Ok so I'm issuing a challenge for those camera buffs out there in blogger land. If you don't normally shoot in RAW, wanna try it??? eek 2 posts in one day!! Just made this yummy spicy hummus and thought I'd share the recipe if anyone wanted it!!

INGREDIENTS
1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained, liquid reserved
2 ounces fresh jalapeno pepper, sliced
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 cloves garlic, minced
DIRECTIONS
In a blender or food processor, combine garbanzo beans, jalapeno, cumin, lemon juice, garlic and 1 tablespoon of the reserved bean liquid. Blend until smooth.

Have I told you guys lately how much I love my job?? Which one you ask, well I love them all in their own special and wonderful way. But today I'm really loving the photography one. I finally got to really work my new camera in. I had 4 shoots today!! And one more tomorrow. SO much fun, and I am worn out!! I started the day out with a family including 18 month old twins! SOO well behaved! Great kids, gorgeous parents! makes my job easy!! Then on to a newborn, beautiful and sleepy 6 days old! Yummy!! A 6 month old after that and her parents, and finally to end the day a family of 5 with a very energetic and opinionated 2 year old(and 7 & 10 year old too). Stay tuned for some photos!! I have LOTS to share!! :)

I havn't had quite as much time to play with my new child lol, this class I'm taking seems to be getting in the way of me having fun with it! But I did take a couple today which made me smile, and so I thought I'd share.

Took the kids to a childrens playfest zone at the community centre, both had a blast and a half!! I was hoping for a better nap out of the boy, but apparently that wasn't meant to be!!!

and one of bree doing the bed jump... it's still too dark, but it's mostly in focus at least! lol I still need to figure out all the settings... but I'm happy with it!!! :)

hurry up daylight, I want to take photos of the children... if I didn't want to traumatize my children even further I would go and take photos of them now... hmmmm nope I better not(but I was thinking about it!!)

I even got a speedlight (flash) for it, so even though I prefer natural light, I've already had a couple of times when I've tried to shoot and it was too dark. No more worries!! Other than I have classes all week and two shoots on Saturday!!

OH you have to love parental loans!!(thanks mom and dad!!)

Ok enough already... just a wee bit excited and Chris is getting tired of me taking photos of him playing on the computer...I think I will take the manual and get comfy!!! Stay tuned for new photos... you know they're coming!

you know, sometimes, you really just need to stop the stress and scrapbook!! Seriously! Heather came over last night and it was so good to just chill and scrapbook! I actually did a page for Scraps Ahoy too! woohoo! I will try to grab a photo of it tomorrow and get it posted. Just good to have a night off, which leads me to the thinking I need to schedule such nights more often. It was so good to just relax again. Thanks H for the scrappin fun!!

Which leads me to my next thought, just how important friends are. Through this incredible hobby I have had the pleasure of meeting (some in real life and some not due to distance, but still the friendships are real)so many fun, creative & brilliant ladies. You know who you are and chances are if you're reading this, you're one of them! lol I thank you so much for your friendship. I truly consider myself blessed, for your comments, friendship and support through all of the bumps in the road!! Sending out some warm fuzzies tonight apparently!!

woohoo there is so much fun fun paper!! Very cool to get a nice pizza box in the mailbox full of paper I have never seen before!! eek I can't wait to get scrapping! I havn't been doing much for quite a while with getting the busness going, but now I can't wait to get working on it!!

not so much of the r&r because I had so much to catch up on around here. The condo guys were out blowing the leaves up into their truck, so I quickly ran out there, and plopped Ian in the pile!! Oh ya they looked at me like I was smoking something funny... but I really hadn't gotten any fall leafy photos of him yet... He just wanted to get to the playground so it took a long time to get him to sit and look at me, I couldn't work a smile in there too. ah well pls ignore the gunge and goo on his face, we're going on week 4 of the runny nose :(

one sock wonder

Ok Ian's latest thing is pulling off his socks... but usually only one, occasionally both. Why??? Ok I will be the first to admit that I hate wearing socks and weather permitting I will not wear them. However the only thing I dislike more than wearing socks is cold feet, hence why I give into the socks for half the year(I live in Canada after all!) Chris generally is a sock guy, so I guess it would only be appropriate that Ian be half into socks, and the other half not so much. Nutsy kid!! In other news, I have been accepted into the Self Employment program that I applied for in the summer, that they told me I had little chance of getting into. I had totally given up hope of getting in. I always believe that everything happens for a reason, even if we don't know what that may be at the time. SO Monday morning I get to start taking business classes for the month of November! I am excited about it and sad to be leaving my kids. I know they'll be fine, it's me I worry about! lol. I love being a mom and being home with them. It's only for a month, I can do it! Although I may need to use daycare for a few days a week after that... we shall see. I have this terrible habit of letting the cart get before the horse... so I will just focus on this next month and think about what comes later, later!

On photog news, going to take photos of my old work mate who is very very pregnant, I hope and pray she stays pregnant until about noon tomorrow so I can get some photos of her! And then soon after the baby !!!! woohoo I can't wait!! Happy weekend all!

Yay for no rain!!

I had two outdoor shoots yesterday and it was supposed to rain all day... I was praying in my car, please Lord no rain... guess what?? 2 dry shoots, the sun even came out for a visit for a bit in the first one!! I had so much fun with both families, here are some sneak peaks; The first one was an engagement shoot with this GORGEOUS couple and some family shots too. I took them to village square(quaint little area in B-dot all about the fun & funky restaurants and boutiques, but really I just love the brickwork, and it's pretty dead during the day, watch out at night time because it comes alive!!)

Dave & Jen, thanks so much! I had a blast hanging with you guys!! The kids were such great sports, having to smile and stuff! They did great and the photos are really capturing what I hoped they would, how crazy in love you guys are!! Looking forward to your wedding in February 08!

My second shoot was with Craig & my new friend Christy, and their stinking cute 2 little, yet incredibly fast boys!! I will have photos to post from your session hopefully in the next couple of days! I had so much fun running with the boys and you guys!! Stay tuned! :)

hey how did it get to be Tuesday??? wasn't it just Friday??? Seriously time is zooming on by these days.. is it me or do y'all think so???
Saturday I got to get up good and early and drove to Port Hope(doesn't that name just sound dreamy?), about 2 hours away to do family photos for a friend of mine. I met her online, we both had babies in Aug/05 and there are a bunch of other Canadian residing mums who also do, so we chat... we've gotten together a couple of times, and have clicked well. Her family is just adorable, and I had a blast and a half spending time with them!! Here are some of my fav's

I hope everyone has had a great Turkey day and remembered all the things they have to be thankful for!! We had our dinner on Saturday as it was the only day that my brothers & their families could all come together. It was nice to see everyone together!! Of course there were photos!!! how did that happen??? Time is just flying by... it'll be Christmas before we know it!
I have been a good little worker bee keeping my nose to getting my website up and running. Fixing up the photos I took last week, and trying to get a feel for the Scraps Ahoy site... very big, lots of neat stuff, and an awesome team. I'm so thrilled to be there!! Thank you all so much for your warm congrats on joining the SA DT, you ladies are such good supportive friends!! *HUGS*

I am beginning to look for a new camera... as much as I love the one I have, I am feeling like I'm outgrowing it and would like one with some of the amazing features that are out there. Along with amazing features come amazing price tags however... I think I may go and visit the Henry's store tomorrow evening and just get a feel for my options.

I'm going back to shoot the newborn again this afternoon, Yippee! I'm so excited! Cross your fingers, toes & eyes for me that we can get him asleep so I can take some cute ones! Will definitely post them later!! :)

ok so that is confusing... lol I didn't win the scraps ahoy idol contest... but, no sad faces... I got something better, well at least I think so. Last night while the voting was still on, I got an email from the head of their design team inviting me to join the crew!!! That they have liked my layouts over the months and want to know if I would be on their DT!!! ummmm is the pope Catholic??? LOL. I am thrilled beyond words! This actually validates me even more than winning the contest would have... So I again will thank you all so much for your help with all the votes for so many months! And for all the encouragement and support. You are great friends and I thank you.
I can't believe I'm on a DT! eeek!! :)

OH and yesterday I had my first photo shoot... it was incredible. Although the 2 week old baby wasn't much in the mood for sleeping... oh he's so tiny!!! He pooped all over everything, then once we got that cleaned up he peed on what was left!! :) SO precious!! Here are some of my favourite shots. Gorgeous children who loved having their photo taken, can it get any better???

went to this little girl's family's home for dinner yesterday, friends of Heather V's. Her daddy is a web designer and had lots of great tips for me. Although I'm thinking I have a long way to go befor being ready to jump in with both feet! However, I am in love with their home and their daughter! The home is a century home that they have totally updated inside, but with some interesting pieces inside. SO very cool! And she is just a dolly!! Having lots of fun practicing with my new lens!
Did I mention we made it to the next round of scraps ahoy??? No I don't think I did??!! ack what is wrong with me? I have th ememory of a ... ummm something with a poor memory! I cna't believe it. this is the final round! holy smokolinies!! AndI have to have my final amazing layout done for Thursday...and I was counting on my S! kit to arrive today, and it didn't! :( It's all good I work great under pressure! about Picasa and it was a match made in heaven! Google really is taking over the internet arent' they? (they own picasa), I also think they own blogger as there is a direct link from the photos part of it to upload photos to your blog! Too cool!! just thought I'd share :) happy w/e all!!

it's voting time again at scraps ahoy, goodness didn't I just beg and plead with y'all to vote for me last week?? seems like it.

Ok I must preface this first though, that there are stipulations on "what" style we have to do it in. I like one, the other... not so much... I guess it would be that freestyle thing... I am SO not a freestyle gal! The assignments were a) give your camera to someone else and scrap the photos and don't forget to scrap their journaling/thoughts too. b)Show off your inner artist through illustrations and handwriting. My heart sunk to the floor when I heard that... however, it's a done deal. I'm hoping we can over look the nasty layout and PUL-ease still vote for me??

On to other schtuff... I have been busy busy this week! Bree started back to school and that was moderately chaotic and routine disturbing... Ian's napping is still way messed up because Mr. Magoo has decided once again that 5:30 is a great time to wake up!!!! (I am SO getting him back when he's a teenager!). I have a job helping my friend Julie, who is a photographer, update her website which is cool! She is way behind with sessions from August still not online yet, so I can officially wear the title webmaster! lol She's a great friend and mentor! and I can do it from home, how great is that?!

I signed up for an online photography workshop put on by Barb Uil, who is an incredible photographer! The workshop is called Memories that Rock, was really cool to read about as I WANT TO BE HER! lmbo... ok maybe just shoot like her! ;) There was a challenge on it to do a "mug" shot, here was my attempt. Crumb face and all!

The teething machine continues... he cut his first eye tooth yesterday, no wonder he has been a miserable lad lately. I swear he has been teething non stop since he was 3 months old.

And I think I shall call it a day, my lovely friends out there in blogger land, I hope you have sweet dreams tonight and I thank you eternally for your help with this crazy little contest! I honestly can't believe I have made it this far, shocked I am! And yet eternally hopeful. Get ready to pick up the pieces though, that layout is baaaaad!

onto round 5!!! Oh my gosh I am so totally excited about that !! THANK you all soooo much for yoru votes!! I KNOW that is the reason why I'm still in this contest!! There are only 2 more rounds left to go eeeeek! I have to have 2 more layouts done for this Saturday... no pressure hey?! one is really outside of my comfort zone(hand done stuff!) but hey I'm up for the challenge.

Had a fun day today at Chris' work company picnic. Went to this heritage farm not too far from us... but I never knew it existed! Lots of super cool old buildings and farm equipment etc. Had tons o fun with the lens' Here are some of my fav's from today!
